Growing up, before and during my time with Boondawgle. I recorded a fair amount of stuff. Initially on a couple boom boxes facing each other. One playing the last recording and the other capturing me playing along with it - on and on. Later a Fostex 4 track, then a ADAT tape based system and progressing to an ADAT hard drive based system. I believe I created a demo of each of my original songs Boondawgle agreed to play but I also have other songs or (ramblings) in some cases of other original material. Some of that might get posted here. Some day I (or someone) might get back to some of these and make complete songs. I know I also have a song or two from Willy that we did not play out and certainly some early Mike tapes as well. I'll have to figure out if they will be okay with any of that getting posted. There exists a few recordings with Bob as well of some of the earliest songs we probably wrote. Some of Phil with the 'metal heads', as he fondly referenced them, might be around might be around as well. Ain't that something?
End of S16.. Five tracks used, one for guitar the rest on the drums.
I played the drums first, I figure, as this was often the case when I multi-tracked. Just creating a simple beat to play against. Here I was most likely filling time on the end of a tape. I then added a single guitar. Probably my Acoustic that was stolen. I was more or less making it up as I went but I probably had some predetermined phrasing in my head. Mostly chord progressions waiting for a melody. I could see building on this. Potentially taking it to a point where you might not recognize it. I am guessing this is somewhere around 2005 or a little later.

This is Mike on guitar playing his song 'Bus' with me (Joe) supporting him on drums. I have multiple specific recollections of preparing for the full band to record in my basement, a time or three, and here I had one of Phil's two amazing kits in place in the very spot I sit in this moment - my head currently being where the right tom tom was. I likely insisted (don't remember much resistance) that Mike come over to help me be prepared for the event - checking levels across the drums while playing full on with some one. Getting his rig in position. Moving and setting up all the equipment needed a little justification. A gig, a party, a demo - and in this case we wanted to make a demo. I am all but sure I told Mike this recording would be kept in the dark or erased. ADAT tape cost money after all. We did a few of his originals, this being the first on that day I think. Eventually I asked him unexpectedly to lay down some bass on top of it. I imagine it was in the name of getting levels, but I also wanted to keep on capturing more of the evening.. Presented uncooked for the most part.

About 18 years ago, Joe was inspired to try and create a concept album of sorts and recorded some things when no one was listening.. I remember being partially motivated by life, The Who song It's a Boy and the general format of The Who's Tommy album. This was the first thing I came up with. Listening back on it over the last week, I can hear ways to improve, reinforce and build upon this simple foundation but here it is in its raw form. At the time I called it Life {Begins}.
